Quote from game Edit

Greetings,

We missed that it was a quote from the game. We know to leave them alome. Our bad!.

On another note, what's with these "edits" some are making where code is substituted for punctuation (& a p o s ; instead of ', for instance), which leaves the final image unchanged? (We had to put a space between the characters so you could tell what we meant) DarthOrc (talk) 03:59, November 2, 2012 (UTC)

Thank YouEdit

Thanks for nominating me for MOTM, I am really honored and glad to help out here. It was a great help for me to come to this Wiki in the beginning when I started to play Skyrim as this type of game was new to me. Although not perfect in spelling or grammar maybe, I try to help out as much as I can now. Thanks... EbonySkyrim (talk) 07:40, November 3, 2012 (UTC)

Undeletion Edit

Hey Jimeee,

Recently it seems Kenny got a little zealous with his deletion of "unused" content. Unfortunately this means the deletion of many images contributed per your request.

This isn't a huge deal, they can simply be undeleted. See the deletion log.

Instead of simply linking to the image on the request page, it may be more adivsable to put a thumbnail image on the page so the content is not considered to be unused.

ZimakaruTalk·Contributions 18:07, November 3, 2012 (UTC)

I have restored the images and added the {{Notorphan}} template to the image files. They should not go unnoticed as unused files now. PS: Wow, where did all the blue text come from? :-\ —TombRaiser SPEAK! 21:30, November 3, 2012 (UTC)

Black "Cuirass" Edit

The black "cuirass" on some of the skeletons in Castle Volkihar cannot be looted and does not appear to increase their DT. (Is this item listed in the creation kit with specs?) Subconsciously, we didn't consider it to be armor. DarthOrc (talk) 18:07, November 5, 2012 (UTC)

Apocrypha Entry PhotoEdit

I think a simple explanation would be nice regarding why my picture of Apocrypha from the trailer was removed from the Apocrypha page. This has pretty much been confirmed as HM's realm so not sure why it was taken off from the appropriate page. —This unsigned comment is by TheUnseelieCourt (talkcontribs) . Please sign your posts with ~~~~!

Regarding speculation, it can be pretty much assured that it is Apocrypha. For one, if you check the various forums, files have been found that indicate Apocrypha is in the game. The trailer shows the character getting pulled through a book by a tentacle, most assuredly Herma Mora and then we see a place that's constructed entirely of books which pretty much fits the description of the Daedric Realm in lore. I would say it's a good 99.9% chance that's it. But, your wiki, your rules. Wish you would have at least edited with an explanation as to why it was removed initially.
Hey Jimeee, watch the Dragonborn trailer again, specifically the end. The Dragonborn Dragon Priest is absorbing the souls of three dragons, not just one. I was just reading the article about the Dragonborn DLC and thought I should point that out. I'd have changed it, but it's locked. Eaglewulf23 (talk) 00:09, November 6, 2012 (UTC)

My bad about the name signing. I'm just "returning" to Wikia after a short hiatus. Anyways, I understand you got rules and whatnot to abide to. Feel free to keep the picture and use it if you'd like when you're ready to. Thanks. TheUnseelieCourt (talk) 05:58, November 6, 2012 (UTC)

I saw that you're editing the page for Homestead and thought you might want to list the Lighting Bugs for the 360 in the bugs section. Some sconces and chandeliers do not emit light when built, leaving the room dark around them. Some immediate ones that come to mind are the sconces in the entrance hall on the wall opposite the door, as well as the lamps in the armory. I've been searching but so far I don't think there's a way to remedy the problem.

ManlikeCrawdad created J'saddha, the content was just reworded from the uesp page, I removed it already so you'll need to go into the history to see it. Balagog gro-Nolob (The Gourmet is listening) 02:04, November 7, 2012 (UTC)

Minor thing reallyEdit

Hi Jimeee, this is not a big deal but suddenly I have under "More Badges You Can Earn!" badges like I was a novice to the Wiki. The numbers are right but it says for example:

"First Steps make 1 edit on an article (1818/1)"

EbonySkyrim (talk) 20:01, November 8, 2012 (UTC)

I have it too. It's some kind of bug.

Yeah maybe it was a redirect? I swear I didn't get it form uesp I saw it on google not to long ago and saw the page didn't have it so I googled it again and I even made sure it wasn't from any other wiki! Books (Skyrim) Edit

Ow sorry i didn't know you were still working on the page. Your last edit to it was 20 minutes ago. Then i protected it, reloaded the page and saw you just saved. Hope i didn't screw up any of your work, i was protecting it to make sure no users were editing it whilst i was completing the list, but you're already working on that. Riftweald Manor rewriteEdit

Hi Jimeee, I have tried to rewrite this page and I would like someone like you to look at it to see if it's ok now before removing the templates at the top. It was sometime since my heroine went to the manor so the description is a bit short. I wanted to add more to it and also go back to the house to have another look. Let me know what to change more, I have removed personal comments also.. Riftweald Manor.

EbonySkyrim (talk) 23:02, November 10, 2012 (UTC)

Thanks, so much better. I'm glad I asked, in this way you learn a lot. I still have some trouble refrasing things and it helps to ask about "bigger edits" like this. Not using description anymore; noted... :)

RE: Colors Edit

Hey Jimeee. I agree with changing the colors. Shivering Isles is a huge improvement. I really like the color for Dragonborn and online. But don't you think that oblivion and battlespire look a bit the same? I'm glad we keep Dawnguard the same, i really like that color. Overall it looks like a big improvement to me.

Re: UESPEdit

While that may be, I'm not saying I didn't. All waterways are connected. I do not take on the form of plagiarism you so greatly think I use. Now, for example, those six instances are six of only 12 or so edits I have done here since my hiatus. One other, for example, was Lake Masobi, the lake that runs between Suran and Dren Plantation..I legitimately expanded that while using the map that UESP happens to have at the disposal and discretion of it's users. Now, what I did, knowing the map well enough, was that I added in key geographic references to Lake Masobi, and so I did not even remotely plagiarise, or even "copy". Those who know will know that Dren Plantation is clearly next to the lake, so in all the hypotheticals of editing, I did not copy in any way what is nothing other than common knowledge- or "standard lore" as you say. Now, this is no excuse. I take full responsibility for my actions, and know that I take strongly to the lack of information on those pages. I also take strongly to unguarded accusations. More importantly, people who try too hard to get their point across to me: I am more than capable and understanding of this situation as well. In the future, I will only make an edit if I have specific source material provided. But I edit from the tributary that is the internet. Any recurring information is bound to happen. Keep that in mind.

PS: I in no way have copied the information from Uesp. I a merely basing it off of the premise of the information itself. Now, Reman Broder, yes. UESP does a merverllous job at "NPC Schedules", I figured I'd at a bit of a schedule to the nearly blanck article. Would you like me to erase my editing history from the most recent pages...?

American or English?Edit

Hi Jimeee, just a quick question. Can't remember if I've seen it but what is the correct use, american english or english. I'm asking as I write english as I was tought and then people after come an correct to american spelling. Just want to know.. Like 2 storey building = 2 story building.

Lore Edit

Hey Jimeee, i have a quick question. If you have the time: i'd like to write a small introduction to the elder scrolls lore, don't know for what yet, maybe a blog, maybe something else. But its a bit difficult. Could you check User:Kennyannydenny/Sandbox and say if you find any mistakes? Kennyannydenny (A question is never stupid, only he who asks it) 13:45, November 16, 2012 (UTC)

Sure, i'll check it out. Jimeee (talk) 13:50, November 16, 2012 (UTC)

BoldEdit

It should be bold because Lamae Beolfag is "also known as blood matron". I was under the impression that alternate names were to be bolded: Night Mother. And maybe you should check to see what else someone has done in the edit before undoing it. Balagog gro-Nolob (The Gourmet is listening) 10:01, November 17, 2012 (UTC)

Who said that I was bothered about it? You are the one who bothered to undo it. Anyway, it's done one other articles, are you gonna go unbold all those? And you know that I know there are more important things on the wiki. Balagog gro-Nolob (The Gourmet is listening) 10:35, November 17, 2012 (UTC)

Question about 2 pagesEdit

Hi Jimeee, I wonder if it is necessary with 2 pages for Salvius Farm? It's also Salvius Farmhouse. I ask as I noticed missing pics there, then when I was to add to it I thought that the first page is like all the other farms like this. What to do, move the text about the farmhouse from one to the other and delete the Salvius Farmhouse page?

EbonySkyrim (talk) 13:33, November 18, 2012 (UTC)

Re FarmEdit

Great, I'll add a new photo of the farm as you can't see the whole farm. :)

About the other page, Siege on the Dragon Cult: Thanks I'm glad you think its fine, it was really hard but I guess it will get easier for each one I rewrite. Didn't think it would take so many hours and I couldn't just stop in the middle. Let me know what to tweak or you can do it yourself. :)

EbonySkyrim (talk) 13:49, November 19, 2012 (UTC)

Hi again Jimeee, next time I think I'll start much earlier in the evening so I'm not sitting until the early hours doing this. I have a few more pics from the tomb, if you think of intergrating some in the text as you did on the quest page you showed me. Or take them from the gallery into the text. It's so dark in the tombs as you know but it's possible to get them lighter although this make them more pixelated when you look very close. But they do look pretty good I think. I had this light problem when I took one pic of Elisif the Fair, but finally that one turned out right and Tomb was happy :). Anyway, let me know and I can show you some of them.
Edit: I uploaded them here
EbonySkyrim (talk) 18:52, November 19, 2012 (UTC)
Jimeee, I did some formatting, added some, refrased a little and added photos. Have a look when you have the time and make changes if you think its necessary.

Blocked?Edit

Hi, I just found out this morning I was blocked by TK-999, an admin who is also blocked. The reason given is "vandalism and spam", and I would like to know why. I have never spammed, nor vandadlised any pages and would like more information. Futhermore, I'm blocked for a year for my first offense? Not even a single warning for something I didn't even do? Can I please have more info on WHY I was banned? Draevan13 (talk) 16:24, November 20, 2012 (UTC)

I noticed this: Console Commands (Oblivion)/Weather on this page it says references UESP. I don't think we want this, right? Kennyannydenny (A question is never stupid, only he who asks it) 19:22, November 20, 2012 (UTC)

Updated with new information Edit

I am back, yes.Edit

I have some exams incoming, but apart from that I just got Dawnguard and Dragonborn is looking promising. That's enaugh content to keep me here for a while. Moreover, I want to find out lore behind this "First Dragonborn" as it makes little sense to me for now.

If I remember correctly I never got to finish the Daggerfall page, nor the Nymph one.

EDIT: Oh, sorry about the double title, there are some new features I am yet to find out about, I see.

Ikabite (talk) 20:49, November 20, 2012 (UTC)

hi sorry if this is a redundant question or something easy to know but is there a way i can delete my profile from this site on my end or is there something you can do? this is obviously not the right place for me to be posting because i seem to be starting more trouble around here than actually contributing.

thanks alot

AtmoransEdit

Hey, Jimeee!

First of all, I would like to thank you again for noticing my return, it felt good to be welcome here. As I said in my previous message, there are some new things in the Wiki I am not familiar with.

I was surprised to find out that so many pages now refer to the race of men, previously known as Nedes, as Atmorans. There are even separate pages for them (Atmoran and Nedes) and people discussing how are they different. I have never seen the term "Atmoran" before in any The Elder Scrolls related literature. If you know something about it, I would love to see a source, if not, this matter should be investigated, as it might be a result of some speculation.

I hope to receive an answer soon, Ikabite (talk) 15:40, November 22, 2012 (UTC)

Thank you for such a swift answer. Unfortunately, the sources you provided (Before the Ages of Man and Frontier, Conquest) do not provide any evidence of "Nedes" and "Atmorans" being a different race. As I see it, all men, exept for Redguards (perhaps), were originally Atmoran (further Nedic) emigrants.
Yes, there were men on Tamriel long before events of the Night of Tears and the Return, but they did come from Atmora. As stated in the same books, the tradition of migration did not start with Ysgramor. Over the time they started to adapt to the new environments, thus forming now known races of men and those that are now extinct.
The quote "These so-called "Nedic peoples" include the proto-Cyrodilians, the ancestors of the Bretons, the aboriginals of Hammerfell, and perhaps a now-vanished Human population of Morrowind." state the following:
  • Early Nedic emigrants had already spread all over Tamriel during Late Merethic Era.
  • All sub-races of men were still united under the name of their race of origin, as they had only started to develop individual characteristics.
Something that is not stated by the given quote, but is in books:
  • Faction of Nedes, that settled in Skyrim started conflict with Falmer.
  • Other Nedic settlers, who lived in different regions of Tamriel, did not join the conflict and remained relatively peaceful towards their elven neighbors.
Belonging to a same race does not mean belonging to an united faction. Nedic colonies throughout Tamriel were not united as their culture favored separate tribes, even on Atmora itself.
Only place where the term "Atmoran" is used is this quote “the Atmoran mercenaries returned to their homeland”. This was, however, written after the foundation of Skyrim. This means that the term is used to imply that these mercenaries had only recently left Atmora unlike the founders of the Skyrim.
In short:
  • Men on Tamriel is a result of Nedic migration, that predates the Return.
  • Despite common misconception, men did not spread all over Tamriel by military expansion of Skyrim inhabiting Nedes.
So, the difference between Atmorans and Nedes remain a mystery to me, still. I hope, that my explanation was not too chaotic and confusing, and, that you see my point.
This does, however, provide the TES Wiki with an interesting topic to discuss.
What do you think? Ikabite (talk) 17:04, November 22, 2012 (UTC)
I checked the other books you provided, and I must admit, the name Atmoran is mentioned quite a bit. There are, however, no signs of Atmoran being different from Nede. So those are most likely just alternate names for one race of men. Ikabite (talk) 17:20, November 22, 2012 (UTC)
I haven't seen a quote that would prove that there were men on Tamriel before the early Atmoran emigrants. Somehow it seems, that them spreading all over the Tamriel during the the Merethic Era makes more sense, than the Wandering Ehlnofey remnant theory.
I checked UESP, they seem to refer to them both as Nedes, but page mentions similar conflict of various sources. But if the big lore guy says Nedes aren't same as Atmorans I may as well be wrong.
We could open this topic for others to discuss, and I have not given the Towers page a full read just yet, but I will.
I have math mid-term exam tomorrow and I haven't studied a bit, so this is enough of TES lore for me today. Ikabite (talk) 17:59, November 22, 2012 (UTC)

Hello, I was looking at my Contributions page and I noticed that each contribution I made had either +xxx in green flavored writing or -xxx in red flavored. Obviously, the green must be good and red must be bad, but what do they mean exactly. I hope you get this. Thank you. AutoBlood (talk) 03:50, November 23, 2012 (UTC)

Refrence links Edit

Hey Jimeee

Darthorc and i are working on the Blades (Skyrim) article and im having trouble with the Reference links.

Instead of being on the bottom part of the page, most of them are in the middle of one of the beginning parts of the article. while its not a article breaking problem (unlike the last part of the article i might add) it is aggravating that i cant fix it.

If you could also give me an idea on how to make the second half sound less like a walk-though and more like a lore article that would help alot, we have the background covered the rest of the article makes the intro pointless.

Thanks and Happy Editing Cheatcodechamp (talk) 08:51, November 23, 2012 (UTC)

Fixed the reference problem, I think. It's good that someone finally took on the project of rewriting the page. I was going to apply an emergency fix yesterday, but my browser crashed and whole thing disappeared. In my opinion the page Blades (Skyrim) should have only vital parts of the lore for the game and should focus more on the interaction with the order. Blades (Lore) page, however needs some paint as well. If you want to study more of the Blades lore, working on the lore page is a better idea.
Ikabite (talk) 18:13, November 23, 2012 (UTC)

OOG SourcesEdit

I finally read your Tower page, and it's done really good, beyond anything I could ever do. The part about Orichalc tower got be looking for a source and so I discovered the Imperial Library. There is a lot of content there, but should it all be considered true? If yes, there are a lot of work to be done.

Additionaly, I thought about adding some more information about the TES:O. It's webpage has Q&As which cover some lore stuff and confirms appearance of certan locations. Should I? Oh, and a question about image rights. The page also has a lot of screenshots and concept art. Can we take them to wiki and avoid any trouble?

Ikabite (talk) 18:23, November 23, 2012 (UTC)

The "nevermind, I figured it out" was not written by me. I am still awaiting an answer. Also, don't you think that the Factions (Online) page should be renamed? It could be Player Factions (Online), something else might fit better. The thing is, there are, no doubt, going to be lesser factions like Mages Guild and Fighters Guild in the game. We can't mix all of those up, in my opinion.
Ikabite (talk) 16:35, November 24, 2012 (UTC)

never mind,I figured it out.

Ok my bad in posting the image Iron Ore, but this time i'll ask can i post the image of Iron Ore form the japenese Elderscrolls wiki, or not?

DurakEdit

I am pretty sure I have seen similar pieces of trivia before. From now on I will delete this kind of content if I see it.

Other news; check out the progress of Blades (Skyrim) page. I am hoping to get it done by tomorrow or the day after. I am also hoping for it to get the featured article status next month.

There are two editors currently working on the page, me and Cheatcodechamp. We don't really get along, see the history of edits and you might see why. I am pretty sure he'll be reading this as well.?

Blades Skyrim Edit

Im sorry to bother you but i need to get this done before i do something i regret

Ikabite and i are not getting along and its starting to effect the wikia. I dont want to fight to a point that one of us leaves and the main thing effect us is the blades article.

I want you to take over and both me and ikabite step back. what both of us have done counts as a edit war as far as im concerned and that wont get the article done.

Ikabit is angry about every edit i do that effects him and im no better at this point, im sorry im acting like this but both of us have become to attached to the article.

Cheatcodechamp (talk) 01:17, November 26, 2012 (UTC)

I'd prefer if you didn't lock the article as it lacks only very little, in my opinion. It has gone through several spell and grammar checks, it has all the content it needs. There is just one lacking thing: illustration. I have asked EbonySkyrim to work on this matter as well as working on it myself.

Need some adviceEdit

Hi. I was working with some Morrowind pages and I noticed some strange mistakes in article's names. For example - there is a book in Morrowind, called "The Consolations of Prayer", but the relevant page is named without "the" - "The Consolations of Prayer" . I found this quite strange and incorrect... shouln't I check the others book's names and match them with the book names in the game or I should leave it and not provoke any page chaos. Just need an Admin advice to be sure :) Wharrgarbl (talk) 10:23, November 26, 2012 (UTC)

I'm really sorry, but I should ask again to be sure :)

  • In Morrowind this book have name The Consolations of Prayer. It's correct.
  • Here, on TES wiki - this book page is named Consolations of Prayer, without "the". It's incorrect, but it may be some Admin feature or idea, dont know.

So what should I do?

  1. Correct the error
  2. Or leave it? :)

I'm asking second time because of another Morrowind book with same problem. In game it's named "36 Lessons of Vivec, Sermon 30". Here, at TES wiki there was a page named "The 36 Lessons of Vivec, Book 30" . I corrected this article's name, but if I start correcting the others...It may become a problem, if I shouldnt do that :) Wharrgarbl (talk) 11:00, November 26, 2012 (UTC)

Well, first of all I made a screenshots of two books methioned before. Then I checked the others books of this book set - they are all have the same, Sermon-name. I made two more screenshots too. More interesting thing - all articles have a "Book" word in their name, but in the same time all Book-templates at their pages have...yep, the correct "Sermon" name. We have a massive misdirection here :)
Also you can check my profile - I uploaded screenshots there so you can be sure. Wharrgarbl (talk) 11:27, November 26, 2012 (UTC)
Glad I could help :)
If I notice something similar - I know who I should inform :) Wharrgarbl (talk) 11:44, November 26, 2012 (UTC)
I corrected list-page:
http://elderscrolls.wikia.com/wiki/36_Lessons_of_Vivec
Now, all that needed to be done is rename the articles correctly :) Wharrgarbl (talk) 11:51, November 26, 2012 (UTC)
Yeah, I noticed it too. I think there is no need in redirects because if you looking for a book name - you will type something like "Lessons Vivec Sermon" and receive correct search-list, without unecessary redirect pages. I better leave them to you, because, as you can notice at my talk-page - I have some problems with redirects :) . The one thing calms me - a little cleanup in old articles is always good for wiki :) Wharrgarbl (talk) 11:58, November 26, 2012 (UTC)

Book about HorkerEdit

Hey Jimeee, as you are on books (right now) :) I wanted to hear with you about this one I stumbled up on. Surviving a Horker Attack, on the tallkpage there was a discussion about if this book exist so I looked in solitude and found the Horker Attacks and saw that it probably is the same book. Is there a way for you to check if that's the case? Aboout the banner, thanks, I just saw it on the request page which I didn't know about until yesterday. Have a good day.. oh and Tomb had a look at the Siege on the Dragon Cult and corrected some for me.

EbonySkyrim (talk) 13:05, November 26, 2012 (UTC)

FalmerEdit

I wanted to speak with you about this. The current page "Falmer" has both, lore and game elements added to it. A simple and rational solution would be to separate these, creating two pages. Falmer (Skyrim) and Falmer (Lore).

Falmer (Skyrim) page could shortly mention how did the elves came to this state and include all the necessary information on the game.

Falmer (Lore) page, however, could include information on both present day Falmer and the ancient ones. I know that their culture and technology are completely different, but I believe we could come up with a solution to this problem.

Don't you think, that this way we would avoid much confusion?

Ikabite (talk) 23:48, November 26, 2012 (UTC)

On the page Markarth where the photo gallery is, to tidy it up could i change the gallery to a slide show.

BADX (talk) 05:47, November 28, 2012 (UTC)

Throat of the WorldEdit

It was you, who requested those images, wasn't it? As you can see, the first two don't look impressive at all. The very peak of the mountain can not be seen from that angle, moreover, the distance and size of the mountain has it's impact on the screenshot as well.

What do you think about the third image, want me to try other angles?

I am running the game on Ultra, so this is the best you can get from an unmodded game, in terms of detail.

Regarding image Edit

Hello.

I was wondering if you could share the source of the image you uploaded here: Media:Vampskilltreedawnguard.png, here: Media:Werewolfskilltreedawnguard.png and here:Media:Destruction-skill-tree.png or if you made it, if you could make more, ideally without the text, just the symbol/constillation

I'm trying to make a panorama of the skill screen, and said imageis the highest resolution image of the skill trees I can find. Jabberwockxeno (talk) 15:41, November 28, 2012 (UTC)

I photoshopped the Destruction (Skyrim) one myself. The Vampire and Werewolf backgrounds are screen dumps from in-game with photoshopped text, stars, lines etc. Here is an excellent image of the panorama of the skill screen:

Thanks, but I already got a image of that part. I'm looking for the skill constellations now. If you don't mind, how did you go about making the destruction one? Be as detailed as you want, I have extensive experience with image editing. Just want to know fonts used, the filter/brush used for the spots of light etc. Jabberwockxeno (talk) 17:17, November 28, 2012 (UTC)
  • The font is Futura medium with a dropshadow.
  • The blue lines were made with the pen tool and an outer glow filter.
  • The starpoints were made with the ellipse tool and an outer glow filter. The sparkle effect are two crossed 1px lines with a Reflected Gradient effect.
  • The background is the Skills panorama I linked to.

Thank you so much! Jabberwockxeno (talk) 17:32, November 28, 2012 (UTC)

Re: Content & WarningEdit

And I see that you have not heard me, or read me for that matter, on the pretense that I have been very busy with the academic portion of my  life. Being the misunderstanding person I have come to know you as, I guess this is just old news...whatever the case may be, it isn't my entire concern at the moment, but I'll keep your little 'warning' in mind.

Don't expect to see me here often, anyways: I'm not compelled to edit here after the justice you think you've served to me on a silver platter. When I do feel up to it, I will, and I assure you it will be of my words, my Voice, not of others.

Drip drip, something's leaking? Edit

These have apparently been spread over the net an hour ago. Since you liked spoilers before, here you go:

hmm Edit

I dont think that is fair, each page should be unique and I dont see much of a good reason to not try and make each page look the best they can look. ralok (talk) 10:06, November 30, 2012 (UTC)
