Welcome[edit source]

Thank you for your many edits so far. If you wish to help further could you please redirect the pages Dark Elf, High Elf, and Wood Elf to the pages Dunmer, Altmer, and Bosmer. I'm really swamped with two other pages im working on and any help you can give me with those redirects would be appreciated. I hope you continue to edit and assist us on this wikia. Cheers Darth Storm 18:55, 5 August 2008 (UTC)

Thank you. If you need any information or help just ask me or, when they get off of vacation, the other members of the Black Hand. Cheers Darth Storm 19:16, 5 August 2008 (UTC)

Thanks[edit source]

Thanks for the heads up. –K.A.JTCE 08:24, 9 September 2008 (UTC)

Re: Welcome[edit source]

I'm going to put this as bluntly as I know how: I'm a solitary person, so don't contact me unless you have serious business with me (and no, welcoming is not "serious business"). I'm here for one reason and one reason only: To learn about Elder Scrolls and contribute my knowledge of it. If I want to chat, I'll go to the forum. —This unsigned comment is by Dstebbins (talkcontribs) . Please sign your posts with ~~~~!

Admin[edit source]

Hey, grats on becoming admin. I'm temporarily back for a few days, but I'll probably soon be off again. I'm glad there's someone to look after the place while I'm gone though :) - Game LordTalk|Contribs 13:37, 27 April 2009 (UTC)

Templates/Infoboxes[edit source]

Hi, Michaeldsuarez, I'm Groe. I'm on and off the wiki from time to time, and I've written most of the battles in the games. I've noticed some odd things happening with the infobox templates, and I was wondering if this is just a temporary problem. Does it have anything to do with Wikia's recent upgrade? If there's anything I can do to help, please let me know, and congratulations on adopting the wiki! Glad to have you as an admin. GR Groe 23:48, 14 May 2009 (UTC)

Election[edit source]

Heya. Not that I'm impatient or anything.. but how long do these admin elections usually last? Everyone who is active on the wiki has voted.. Is it just required to wait a certain amount of time? -- Xell Khaar 22:41, 23 June 2009 (UTC)

Common.css[edit source]

Hi. I overrid your codes on common.css because they screwed with certain things like the eras template (which I hope, in time, to have on every page) which is again screwing up. I really have the wiki planned out a certain way, and to do that requires a specific common.css. I figured you were mostly inactive since you never edit anything, and wouldn't mind if I changed things. It would be really nice it could be kept like I had it.. thanks! -- Xell Khaar 20:10, 25 June 2009 (UTC)

Alright look, I suck at trying to speak politely, so I'm just going to speak my mind here. This wiki is an obsession of mine. I'm going to be making a lot of changes on the wiki, I plan to rewrite nearly every single Wiki related page. This means overriding a lot of edits you've made yourself, and a lot of code that you've written yourself. This is not saying anything about your skills as an editor, it just means that I am extremely OCD (literally) and want things to be a certain way. Anyway, what I'm trying to say is, don't edit anything wiki related for awhile, until I get the site organized (and I will). I know it's a lot to ask, but you have to really trust that I will fix this wiki. If you don't notice a significant change in the wiki's organization and structure within 2 months, you can revert my admin rights? How's that sound? So I'm going to revert the stuff you added to common.css because I don't want it to be that way. If you want to take away my admin rights for not being a team player, then fine. But know that I really do intend to make this wiki good. -- Xell Khaar 00:58, 26 June 2009 (UTC)

I quit[edit source]

Bah, you know what? Just screw it, I don't want to be admin anymore, this is too much stress. Everything was working yesterday, now my templates are screwed up, and I reverted everything you changed this morning and.. now they still don't work. So screw it, it's not even worth it, I give up. Someone with OCD should never be admin for a site like this. There's too much stuff to create. I'm gonna go do something else. -- Xell Khaar 01:25, 26 June 2009 (UTC)

I'm sorry but I agree with Xell Khaar. Life's too short to wate on crap like this. Arandil 18:19, 26 June 2009 (UTC)

Orcs[edit source]

Thanks. So is he the only admin, or are there more. Other than KAJ and GameLord? Darth Storm 19:54, 30 June 2009 (UTC)

Hiatus?[edit source]

Hey, what happened to that several month long hiatus you were going to take? Did you forget about that? Because it'd be really nice not to have someone hovering over my shoulder while I edit stuff. Just wondering. -- Xell Khaar 16:08, 1 July 2009 (UTC)

Future of the site[edit source]

Hi Michaeldsuarez, KAJ here, long time no see. Firstly I want to apologize for letting the site slip so badly, I had every intention of running this site, and I really did want it to be a success. Unfortunately real life got on top of me, and, at the end of day real life is what matters, not this site. Although I don't intend on returning to work here (or any wiki ever again for that matter), I would like to leave knowing that it's in good hands and has a fair chance of flourishing. I've noticed the new Admin here, Xell Khaar, seems to be a very talented editor with both the knowledge and the commitment to make this site happen. I've also noticed the friction between the two of you. I mean no disrespect to your skills as an Admin, but I am respectfully asking that you give Xell Khaar free reign of this site. He knows what he is doing, and while I don't doubt your enthusiasm, the other Wiki's in your care are hardly the most prosperous. Again I mean no disrespect, I just want this site to have the best chance possible. I wasn't it, nor was Game Lord, and to be perfectly honest I don't think you are either. This will no doubt be the last time you hear from me, but I wish you and this site the very best of luck. Cheers. –K.A.JTCE 16:57, 1 July 2009 (UTC)

How[edit source]

Hpow did I vandalize? --The Dark Prince

  • I thoght that was the palce to post updates about the site right? -- The Dark Prince
    • But you document his adminship why not removal? -- The Dark Prince
  • Doesnt't work better with new info? -- The Dark Prince
  • Can I have adminship pelase? I have big plans for this wiki. -- The Dark Prince
  • Please? -- The Dark Prince
  • Can I at least please have burocrattship please? -- The Dark Prince
  • SO I'm gonna be an adminsitaror and then a burocrat? -- The Dark Prince
  • So I am gonna be an administrator? -- The Dark Prince
  • But you said that's how it works? -- The Dark Prince

Vote[edit source]

I'm so very sorry for all this. All I wanted was a smooth transition of power so this Wiki may begin to function properly. But you must see that going to another Wiki to rally support is not helping. None of the people who have voted in your favour can be included because they aren't active members of the community. And a certain individual has been inspired to vandalism and harrasment of another user because they didn't vote for you. I'm asking you to step down of your own free will so this unpleasent situation may be resloved. –K.A.JTCE 19:28, 1 July 2009 (UTC)

And again I am very sorry. Would you consider stepping down? Or maybe taking a short break from the site, just to give some breathing space between you and Xell? –K.A.JTCE 19:44, 1 July 2009 (UTC)

I understand your concerns but the current situatuation is helping nobody. Whilst I realise that you went to SWFanon looking for advice, not support, you must realise that creating a Forum entitiled "The Usurper" does not reflect well on you at all. I don't think taking this to the Central Wikia is going to help you, they will not take seriously the votes of those who are not contributors of the site, and it will be yet another stain on the site's history. Is there any chance you would consider speaking to Xell Khaar to try and reach a compromise? –K.A.JTCE 20:03, 1 July 2009 (UTC)

Yes please[edit source]

Yes, could you? I'm sick of this, all I'm doing is enforcing the rules of the site, and I'm being attacked for not following the masses, even though they are not members of this site. Arandil 19:33, 1 July 2009 (UTC)

Xell Khaar[edit source]

Then who will? I'm sorry Michael but my hands are tied, I don't have a choice. The community has voted against you. I can't ignore consensus beacuse of your dislike for Xell Khaar. At the end of the day someone needs to run this site. –K.A.JTCE 15:03, 2 July 2009 (UTC)

Using Wookieepedia as a guide in regards to policies and templates is not a bad thing, it's what I did when I first took over. The fact of the matter is, the other regular contributors are willing to work with him, and have voted for him and against you. This situation is by no means desireable, but as I said before, I have no choice. –K.A.JTCE 15:13, 2 July 2009 (UTC)

It's not about right and wrong, it's about what the community wants, and what's best for the site. I don't have a choice, my hands are tied by the rules, just like everyone else's including yours. –K.A.JTCE 15:20, 2 July 2009 (UTC)

Would you feel better if someone else was made an Administrator? that way Xell would have to collaborate with someone else. –K.A.JTCE 15:32, 2 July 2009 (UTC)
Well, we can't deny someone an Adminship because they would work well with Xell. If, however, a another Admin was selected and Xell tried to remove them, it would be proof of his inabillity to get along with others. I think this option would be worth exploring. –K.A.JTCE 15:41, 2 July 2009 (UTC)

Thats fine, but please don't wait too long, because I told Xell I would remove your Adminship tommorrow. I think this would be for the best all round. We will be able to see if Xell really is as bad as you say, he will have to share power with someone else if you are demoted, the tension will be relieved and the site will be able to move on, and your future on wikia won't be tainted by the stigma of having your user rights forcibly removed. Everyone wins. –K.A.JTCE 16:13, 2 July 2009 (UTC)

Thank you Michael. We can all move on now. –K.A.JTCE 17:19, 2 July 2009 (UTC)

I'm glad you've got something to keep you occupied. Good luck with your new project! –K.A.JTCE 17:29, 2 July 2009 (UTC)

CatherineMunro[edit source]

She never answers anyones requests ever. I'm pretty sure she just completely ignores her talk page. She continues to edit, but she's never going to answer your request. Can you please just ask Angela to do it? She usually responds in like an hour. -- Xell Khaar 09:22, 4 July 2009 (UTC)

Sorry to see you go[edit source]

I'm sorry that you're no longer in charge of this site. Xell Khaar is pretty obviously a little boy on a power trip and does nothing but copy stuff from Wookiepedia while his band of little friends tell him how good he is. It's just a matter of time before this whole site dies now. Galaactica 10:21, 11 July 2009 (UTC)

RE:Loose canon[edit source]

I found three like minded users with the knowlede and drive to make the wiki a success. So I brought them together and gave them unrestricted control over the site, and, in the process removed idiots like yourself. I didn't even have to remove your rights, as you did it for me. –K.A.JTCE 15:15, 11 July 2009 (UTC)

Map[edit source]

Hey Micheal, its me, again. I'm just curious, but where did you get that picture of Nirn/Tamriel from, did you create it? by the way whats Pyandonea (sorry if i spelt is wrong)

Hey (about the map)[edit source]

Ok, thats cool and everything, it must have taken a while to make, but waht is Pyandonea, its the island south of Tamriel.

RE:Welcome[edit source]

Hey, thanks for the welcome. To answer your question, yes I have been at the UESP wiki, and I look forward to working here with you. I also have a few questions I was hoping you could answer. Could you explain the quote of the week nomination as it is a little different than other wikis'? Also am I allowed to nominate articles for featured status and quotes for quote of the week or are we not doing that until the site becomes more active? InfernalWarrior 22:01, February 6, 2010 (UTC)

  • Somebody updated the quote of the week with a really bad quote so I decided to replace it with something else, but when I got through editing it, the quote wouldn't show up on the main page, it still showed the old quote. Could you please attempt to help me? Thanks. InfernalWarrior 05:24, February 12, 2010 (UTC)

Reply to bravil talk page post[edit source]

On UESP I would hardly edit, because most of it is there, however, on this page I can practice editing. I've only edited a small amount, but I hope in the future I can edit more. I also wanted to make a few suggestions, but it would require admin status. When I looked for a list of admins I couldnt find one, is there a list that I've just overlooked? You seem to have the "admin" kind of look to your talk page, but some of the messages suggests that you were *this* close to being admin but someone ruined it for you. Mikeboy52UESP 16:47, May 9, 2010 (UTC)

Nevermind, found one :D but now im not sure admins can do it... Mikeboy52UESP 17:19, May 9, 2010 (UTC)

As far as I can tell, the biggest concern is namespaces. NPC names are repetitive throughout TES, I seem to remember more than one Umbra for instance, than again, even in TESIV there was 2 umbras, sword and person. If you had 3 sections to each page name, organization would be a lot easier. The first stating what game it was in, the second stating what it is, the third being a name so one example would be "Oblivion:Person:Umbra" another could be "Oblivion:Shop:The Best Defence"

When it comes to Oblivion, I can do it pretty fast and effeciently, if you havent started making quest pages yet. Also, if theres a reason you havent made namespaces, I'd like to hear it, if thats not a problem.

An IRC chat room (I've seen it mentioned on this wiki) link on the left hand side would be helpful. Or you can have a chat room hosted on this wiki (flash on a wiki, how original :D ). Im familiar with HTML so if theres a way, I can find it.

For now, Those 2 are what I would suggest for now, the rest should probably wait untill the site pages are more organized. More users (easy to get, if you know how) would be good to ;D. Mikeboy52UESP 19:57, May 11, 2010 (UTC)

Neh, like most wikis, wikia doesnt "allow" flash to be put on pages, links to an IRC chat room would be good though... Mikeboy52UESP 20:59, May 11, 2010 (UTC)

Same; mikeyboy52. I added UESP to the end because i noticed another user from uesp did the same thing, and i thought it was a good idea :D UESP has a huge lore section, almost everything (everything i can think of, maybe missing some) if not all. I made a seprate wiki (I like to edit wikis) thats based on oblivion. I've noticed that another wiki dedicated to oblivion wasnt all that great, and the admins were a little to pushy. So I hope I'll do better (more time). Don't you also have an account on UESP? Or is that someone else? Mikeboy52UESP 04:41, May 12, 2010 (UTC)

That sounds about right, wont be on for a few days, stomache flu i think. Mikeboy52UESP 21:24, May 13, 2010 (UTC)

I'd try going to obliviowiki but it might seem like im trying to compete with them by asking other users if they want to join my wiki, what do you think about it? Mikeboy52UESP 08:04, May 19, 2010 (UTC)
http://tesiv.wikia.com/ nothing much to compete with though, its barely in the "beta" stages though. I'm going to try to make it more for people to come together and talk about oblivion, while still be able to see facts about the game. For now theres only me and a friend, made the friend admin for reasons of trust. Mikeboy52UESP 13:59, May 19, 2010 (UTC)
Im starting with guilds and cities, than working outwords from thereMikeboy52UESP 14:11, May 19, 2010 (UTC)
Thanks, I will :D Mikeboy52UESP 16:41, May 19, 2010 (UTC)

Question(s)[edit source]

I'm Kind of new to being in complete control of a wiki, and theres a few questions i hope you can help me with ;D

How do I change the Welcome message?

When editing the left hand side panel (through a special page) what wiki mark up codes should I know?

Where is a good "Wikis for dummies" type site?

ha ha, if you could help, thanks, if not ill just have to keep looking on google :D Mikeboy52UESP 16:34, May 20, 2010 (UTC)

Oh, ok cool, kinda similar to dreamweaver in a way (not code, but a tool to edit i mean :P) Mikeboy52UESP 13:09, May 22, 2010 (UTC)

Hi, introduction[edit source]

Adoption[edit source]

Hey, I tried to apply for bureaucratic and administrative privileges but as you have been active in the last thirty days I was denied, but they suggested that if you are planning to stay inactive that I should request that you grant me the rights. Thanks. InfernalWarrior 03:26, July 4, 2010 (UTC)

UESP[edit source]

Sorry that it took me so long to get back to you, but I was in South Africa for Germany's last two World Cup games, and on the way back to Germany we stopped in Austria to visit with some relatives. So, to make a long story short I just couldn't find any time to edit, but now I'm back. The reason I contribute here instead of at UESP is due to the fact that its hard to find anything to actively edit on UESP, while on this site everything is largely incomplete so that I actually have something to work on. Has this site always been this inactive? InfernalWarrior 14:58, July 19, 2010 (UTC)

Good Stuff[edit source]

Exelent info

Thank you for posting!

I just found out that you are one of the Administrators here.[edit source]

Perhaps my question would be better directed to you, instead. My question is: How in depth should we be going with information here? I.e. do you want as much content on as many of the characters within the games as possible? (Named ones, at least)? Or, should that be left for the other Wikias, such as Morrowind and Oblivion, which, for some explicable reason, have their own seperate ones? Timeoin 17:52, March 14, 2011 (UTC)

Merger proposal[edit source]

What do you think about the idea of merging Wikia's Elder Scrolls wikis into one big wiki (at least those where the community agrees, that is)? I think this would allow them to better compete with UESP. The Skyrim Wiki is actually doing a great job at that currently, and has quite an active community now, but I think it would be best if there was one big wiki for the whole franchise, especially in the long term.

This bit might seem controversial, but for search engine optimization purposes it would be best for the merged wiki to have Skyrim as its primary focus on the main page and have the "Skyrim Wiki" name for now (maybe with something like "Skyrim Wiki - All about Elder Scrolls series" as the title), at least until the game is released, but have the content based on all the games, so it's the best way of attracting new users at the moment. The reason Skyrim Wiki is getting lots of traffic now is because losts of people are searching for that very phrase in Google. In the long term, after the game's release, and after we've re-established an active community, we could rename it back to "Elder Scrolls Wiki" and shift the focus to the whole series.

Please tell me what your thoughts on that would be. Ausir(talk) 21:02, March 28, 2011 (UTC)

Doing a good job of competing with UESP? Seriously? Your page on Bows has two lines of text, one image... and NO bows. You've got about 100 pages, most of which are filled with utter crap. The Recent Changes page is a mass of IP editors adding blog comments and article comments about how l337 they are. Your best bet is to shut the whole thing down. –rpeh •TCE 08:46, March 29, 2011 (UTC)
It's not as if you guys have an elaborate article about bows in Skyrim either. I'm not saying it's as big as UESP already (or that it necessarily will be), but it does have more and more active community with more users joining every day. And now, there are no plans to shut down either of the wikis. Ausir(talk) 11:50, March 29, 2011 (UTC)
That's my point. We don't have an article on bows in Skyrim because there's nothing to put on it. The Skyrim wiki is already a total mess even with so few articles, hence why it should be killed and restarted with a better focus. –rpeh •TCE 08:21, March 30, 2011 (UTC)
Rpeh, as someone who has been actively filling up the "Recent Changes" page with updates and stuff, I rather resent that comment. I've been doing my best to update this wiki. I dont think it will ever be UESP (We dont have the 100+ dedicated wikiers :P), but we can still provide a really good wiki nonetheless. Timeoin 23:48, March 29, 2011 (UTC)
I was referring to the recent changes page on the Skyrim wiki. See for yourself. –rpeh •TCE 08:21, March 30, 2011 (UTC)
Sure, comments do make up the majority of edits, but I don't really see it as being bad. I'm sure a lot of the commenters will start adding actual content once there is more to add on the game. The comments might looks like a mess to you, but it's simply a matter of different focus of this wiki, which is more community-based (with article comments acting partly as forums) that UESP. Young wikis generally tend to look messy at first, but end up refining their content over time. Ausir(talk) 10:21, March 30, 2011 (UTC)
Agreed. There is only so much content about the events of a game that can be added 8 months before its release date! Timeoin 14:33, March 30, 2011 (UTC)
You both miss the point by a long, long way. You have no idea how you're going to structure the new content. You have no idea how to filter and check the new content. You have no idea how you're going to do anything. The comments that "make up the majority of edits" are going to find their way onto proper articles, just as they have at at The Vault. I see that despite the staggeringly-large number of admins over there you still can't keep the fanb0i nonsense, speculation and general inaccurate nonsense off the site, to say nothing of pointless, non-articles like this.
Good luck, but you're already in a cesspit and show no signs of even realising it. You're certainly not trying to work out how to pull yourselves out of it. –rpeh •TCE 21:51, March 30, 2011 (UTC)
Rpeh why don't you leave this wikia to do what it wants. Why don't you go on your wikia and do stuff there. Why do yuo feel so threaded that the wikia are joining up? User:Kacj321 23:07, March 30, 2011 (UTC)
Once more in English?
I'm neither threaded nor threatened by anything you do on these sites: UESP has always been vastly superior and will continue to be. If you want to combine the three wikis, go for it. It'll make life easier for me because there will only be one site I have to check for blatant copyright violation instead of three. –rpeh •TCE 09:48, March 31, 2011 (UTC)
So why do you care so much? And if it was not in English how did you read it? User:Kacj321 15:11, March 31, 2011 (UTC)
Oooh. I know why here cares so much. Allow me to cut-paste for a minute ;) "This user has made over [65,000 edits] to UESP." (Actually, he is the #1 spammer , er, Editor, of that site ;) P.s. We are not trying to compete with UESP. If people want to get extremely comprehensive information about something, thats what the UESP is for. (Heck, I use it when I get stuck for information :P) But then again, UESP doesnt have EVERYTHING. Nor does this one. What this one DOES have though, is pages in other languages. That is something UESP doesnt have. Timeoin 07:32, April 1, 2011 (UTC)

Also, we have a nice community than UESP :D

Haha. Nice!! Timeoin 15:14, April 1, 2011 (UTC)
You don't have a community. Two editors isn't a community by any stretch of the imagination. –rpeh •TCE 09:38, April 2, 2011 (UTC)
Just because me and Tim are the only one talking here dosen't mean that we are the only to. There tons on the Oblivion Wikia and Skyrim Wikia. Plus even if we are the only two we are still better community. User:Kacj321 21:59, April 2, 2011 (UTC)
You're such a funny little man! –rpeh •TCE 05:44, April 3, 2011 (UTC)

Okay, back on topic here before it gets completely out of hand ;) I, personally dont see it as a bad thing if we combine the wikis (I'm not sure how one would go about combining this, but I'm sure its probably possible). The way I see it - this one has lots of pages (as one would expect for the over-arching wiki), with a lot of content, particularly about Lore. (Admittedly, not so much content on the books yet, but I'm going to work on that one eventually) - and ones like Oblivion and Skyrim have a lesser amount of pages, but a greater number of continual editors. Its a win-win, as far as I can see :) Timeoin 05:05, April 3, 2011 (UTC)

The oblivion wikia has 3000 pages :S this one has 1000 pages User:Kacj321 08:11, April 3, 2011 (UTC)

I missed this note in my own spamming. lol. 3000 pages, eh? THAT SOUNDS LIKE A CHALLENGE ;) 23:19, April 14, 2011 (UTC)

Moderators[edit source]

Hello Michaeldsuarez. Ausir mentioned on my talk page that I should see you about becoming one of the moderators here. If possible, I would be very interested in doing so! Is this possible? And if so - what do I do ? :) Timeoin 23:48, March 29, 2011 (UTC)

Um ... Delete, or just go through and add lots of notes saying that it comes from UESP and Bethesda? Timeoin 23:24, April 14, 2011 (UTC)

P.s. I'll wait for your reply, so I don't do the wrong thing! Timeoin 23:24, April 14, 2011 (UTC)

Talk Pages Cleanup[edit source]

Greetings! I've been going through some of the archives left over from the OblivioWiki Merge, and I see that a talk page exists from the OblivioWiki. If you want to view it to archive this talk page, you can view it here: OblivioWiki:Merge/User talk:Michaeldsuarez. Otherwise, in a short while, I shall be deleting those pages in order to finalise the OblivioWiki Cleanup. Thanks in advance.
