See ? :) Edit

Its not perfect, but its definitely improving fast :D Timeoin 15:16, April 20, 2011 (UTC)

P.s. thanks for the edits! :) Timeoin 15:16, April 20, 2011 (UTC)
: Sweet! Its always good to have willing editors :) (On any of the wikis. lol). You're right, I dont have any idea what barsoom is (Something about Edgar Rice Burroughs) - but that doesnt mean that I cannot give you kudos for helping out with it :P (Heh - I used to edit a wiki for Erepublik - its probably even MORE obscure :P) And yes - I understand you cannot be everywhere! Thats okay though - Even a few edits here and there helps increase the quality of the wiki :D Timeoin 15:55, April 20, 2011 (UTC)
(Would have replied sooner, but there was a problem with Wikia :P) Timeoin 15:56, April 20, 2011 (UTC)

More Games Edit

If it helps, Arena and Daggerfall are both available for free download on the Elder Scrolls website. Unfortunately for me though, I cannot play them due to having Windows 7 :s Timeoin 02:00, April 21, 2011 (UTC)

I have arena and daggerfall on my computer, I have ways of getting around compatibility issues. The problem is . . . how incredibly painful it is to play these games . . . I mean . . . I think I would have hada hard time with arena back in the day when it was high tech. I can barely play morrowind, but I go through the gameplay anyways because it is one of hte most visually unique games of all time with amazing attention to lore. Oblivions attention to lore and detail were neglected for gameplay playability being the focus of the development. I dont hate any of these games . . . But daggerfall and arena are to dang big, with not enough navigable landmarks . . . I will one day get the courage to grind through the games . . . . aint gonna happen today though. Why is this comic labeled issue 24, does bethesda just feel like being jerks or were there more issues. If not . . . WHY NOT it had great art and I am impressed with how far ahead bethesda plans I mean ( I am pretty sure redgaurd was pre-morrowind not sure) it showed morrowind as morrowind D: ralok 02:06, April 21, 2011 (UTC)
Worth a shot ;) And - yes, they are a bit too massive. I am not sure. Its quite possible that there WERE more comics out there. I only know of THAT particular one (which is available as a free PDF download) - like you said - they are rather obscure to find. Yes, Redguard was indeed Pre-Morrowind. Actually - an interesting story with that. Redguard apparently did not do very well in terms of sales, unlike Daggerfall and Arena, which were massive hits, and the company almost went broke. In fact, we almost never got the joys of Morrowind, Oblivion, and Skyrim. But, fortunately for the world, ZeniMax Media bought them out, and they have TONS of money, so all was good again. (Also, I am not sure why I am telling you all this. lol.). Anyways ... yeah - they do indeed think long-term! :) Timeoin 02:34, April 21, 2011 (UTC)

Merger Edit

Okay... I'll explain the reason for the merger (Just so you know why everyone wants it to happen :P). Basically, Skyrim is coming up soon - and there is going to be a massive demand for information about it. So - whilst there is all this hype, the idea is to use it to increase the page ranking of this wiki (or the other one, im not sure which one is migrating). Its going to basically combine the community of the skyrim page, with the depth (as you have said yourself, we have the lore depth (and its getting deeper :D) - to make it into a Wiki site that can "challenge" (I know we arent competing, but still) UESP :) Timeoin 03:59, April 22, 2011 (UTC)

I understand . . . But this wiki . . . its going to need a facelift. . . . Or lord have mercy I got an idea . . . we use a really tall image of a scroll opened, so the sides of the page look like an opened scroll, and make the wikia background transparent so it looks like you are reading off a scroll . . . wait . . . thats dumb D: ralok 04:03, April 22, 2011 (UTC)
Yes, it is indeed. Part of the "Fun" of it. Also, we will likely be transferring the talk pages into similar to the Skyrim one (to further differentiate the wiki from the UESP one) But yes, a facelift will be needed. Think of it though - if we pull it off - we have not only the community - but the 1500+ pages built in. It will suddenly become a Wiki to be feared once more :D Timeoin 04:08, April 22, 2011 (UTC)

Generic Message Edit

Hey Ralok, what do you think of the message that appears on the Recent Changes page? Is it okay, or do i need to add or remove stuff? TimeoinSay G'DayView my workSee current projects 00:57, May 2, 2011 (UTC)

I think its okay . . . I am not even entirely sure I know what you are talking about . . . but it seems fine ralok 01:28, May 2, 2011 (UTC)
On Special:WikiActivity, there is a thing that says "Welcome to the Elder Scrolls Wiki". That thing. I wrote that ;) Also - apologies for the Achievements, too, if you find them annoying. But when I work out how to change them around a bit, and make them cool like they are on the Fallout wikia, should work rather well :) TimeoinSay G'DayView my workSee current projects 01:31, May 2, 2011 (UTC)

they are only a mild annoyance, trail blazer could be a silt strider I supposed. Welcome to the wiki could be a pair of handcuffs referencing the fact that all the games in the main series seem to start you off as a prisoner, just the beginning could be a pen in an inkwell. . . I just kinda wish they were more relevent thats all ralok 01:39, May 2, 2011 (UTC)

Yeah, I know. I know. They will be - cut me a little slack. lol. I only got them a day ago. lol. Hmm...I like those ideas, I'm going to use them. The only one im worried about is the handcuffs one. I might make that for the user one instead, so that folks who have only played one or two games dont get discouraged by getting a handcuff on their first edit. lol. Vandalism Edit

Removed. Thanks for the quick uptake! :) TimeoinSay G'DayView my workSee current projects 04:23, May 2, 2011 (UTC)

Redirects Edit

Please do not simply redirect pre-existing Elder Scrolls Wiki pages to Skyrim Wiki ones, particularly given that some of them, like Argonians, were copied from UESP without due credit. If anything, they should redirect the other way around. Ausir(talk) @fandom 20:22, May 2, 2011 (UTC)

I didnt redirect any pages to a page with the word "skyrim" in the title to my knowledge. All I did was make the shorter pages redirects to longer pages . . . Assume good faith bro, I had no idea those pages were copied off of the uesp. And there is no reason to have redundant pages for different games (like what the uesp does to boost their page count). ralok 21:53, May 2, 2011 (UTC)
I didn't mean "Skyrim" in the title, just that it was imported from Skyrim Wiki. I do assume good faith, just saying that it's best to check whether the longer page is not copied from e.g. UESP by any chance, as this happens quite often. As for redundant pages, I'd say that UESP does go overboard with it, but sometimes it does make sense, especially if there's lots of stats for a given item/creature/etc. for each game - this was why we did divide items and creatures by game at The Vault after all recently (but not with a separate namespace for each like at UESP). Anyway, keep up the good work! Ausir(talk) @fandom 22:00, May 2, 2011 (UTC)

Mystery Users? Edit

Hey Ralok. Those "mystery users" are Kacj321 and Lordsunflash. They were the Admins of the Skyrim wiki, just so you know who they are (And Kacj has been floating around here for a bit, too :P) p.s. its a good feeling waking up and finding that there are actual edits being done :P TimeoinSay G'DayView my workSee current projects 00:53, May 3, 2011 (UTC)

Oh sorry, I am aware of who they are. I have talked with them before (i think) on the fallout wiki. The reason I said myster user was because one of them forgot to sign a sig, so I assumed it was an anonmyous user. . . just a minor mixup. ralok 00:55, May 3, 2011 (UTC)
Ooh. Okay. My apologies! I thought you didnt know because they seemingly came out of nowhere, so I wanted to let you know :) TimeoinSay G'DayView my workSee current projects 01:08, May 3, 2011 (UTC)

Address Bar Edit

You know, I was wondering the same thing. Possibly because Skyrim Wikia is getting the search hits, and ES isnt? :) TimeoinSay G'DayView my workSee current projects 11:11, May 4, 2011 (UTC)

All the links seem to automatically redirect there, though. (For instance, all my user page links automatically go to Skyrim, on the mouseover? Oh well, whatever works, I guess :) TimeoinSay G'DayView my workSee current projects 11:13, May 4, 2011 (UTC)

Yes but . . . any address to the skyrim wiki would just take you to the elder scrolls wiki wouldnt it? This isnt osmething that can be ignored, first the front page is reduced to a horribly unproffessional leve (instead of a mildly unproffessional level as it was before) and now it feels like the wiki isnt even acknowledging the fact that skyrim is a game in the elder scrolls series. It just feels so amateur and messy right now . . . These things need to be fixed. ralok 11:16, May 4, 2011 (UTC)

Actually, Ausir just explained it to me. Right now, Skyrim Wikia, is (and probably has been for a while now) - one of the top rated searches for "Skyrim News" - above most of the actual magazines and websites dedicated to game news. Thats why we're going with Skyrim.wikia. TimeoinSay G'DayView my workSee current projects 11:18, May 4, 2011 (UTC)
Yes, this is intentional. For SEO purposes, we've decided that given the buzz around the new game, it is best to rename the merged wiki to "Skyrim Wiki" for now, even though it will still cover all Elder Scrolls games, as people will be most likely to Google for Skyrim currently. The intent is to go back to "Elder Scrolls Wiki" some time after the game's release, and the wiki still links to all Elder Scrolls games in the main navigation, for example. It might not be perfect, but it's currently the best way of attracting a new userbase. As for the main page, I'll work on making a new one soon. Ausir(talk) @fandom 11:19, May 4, 2011 (UTC)

thanks from:fyren92695 Edit

Hey ralok its fyren92695 i wanted to thank you for finding that link timeoin put it on my talk page so thanks man

Sweet image on the Tribunal Page!! :) TimeoinSay G'DayView my workSee current projects 13:54, May 10, 2011 (UTC)

Its the only image i knew of that had the three together, its not very though. it needs better lighting . . . I will attempt to take a better screenshot of it at a later time. ralok 13:56, May 10, 2011 (UTC)

Marksman721 Edit

Ralok, I have given Marksman a 24 hour ban for his spamming, since it is his first offense. With luck, this ban will cause him to realise that this behaviour is not tolerated, and begin to make constructive efforts instead. (I hope that the latter is the case). TimeoinSay G'DayView my workSee current projects 01:30, May 11, 2011 (UTC)

Instructions Edit

Yes, they did indeed! I shall add Morrowind images later on, because I think that Gheart is rather eager to add these images himself? :) TimeoinSay G'DayView my workSee current projects 02:52, May 11, 2011 (UTC)

Khajiit Edit Edit

I didn't add "Weapon", but I did add "Religion" only for the fact that Weapon was there, I figured 'The article is pegged Weapon because it discusses weapons, so I'll peg it Religion because it discusses religion' - I honestly have no idea what I was thinking adding religion - I guess I was following suite in stupidity. Apologizes.

Also... Edit

Yes, I realise that I am rather over-eager when it comes to page cleanups. Sorry about that. TimeoinSay G'DayView my workSee current projects 22:40, May 18, 2011 (UTC)

Ive also added a few more pages that I would like to get rid of here. :) Finally, I have now added the First Pocket Guide to the library, using the Wikiscrolls clause. I plan on the third one later on - Lore Pages, here we go! :D TimeoinSay G'DayView my workSee current projects 23:02, May 18, 2011 (UTC)

Oh yeah... Edit

Forgot about them. Whoops ;)

Anyways - It is just about time for stage to of the referencing project. Stage two involves Adding to the "Sources" section - books that mention that particular major topic from Lore. :) TimeoinSay G'DayView my workSee current projects 12:59, May 19, 2011 (UTC)

Thanks Edit

Hey, thanks for helping with the vandal by Oblivionforlife! I've banned him and his IP. I was asleep and I woke up to go toilet and I quickly checked this wikia and see Oblivionforlife! vandal. So I'm half awake and I might forget to say this so I'll say it now. Thanks User:Kacj321 23:33, May 20, 2011 (UTC)

I've tryed I delete all his contrbutions, but its not working :S User:Kacj321 23:43, May 20, 2011 (UTC)

Heres an odd question for you ... Edit

Why, if Akavir is EAST of Tamriel, do they always attack from the North?? TimeoinSay G'DayView my workSee current projects 15:44, May 21, 2011 (UTC)

because of the tribunal, they simply take their boats around morrowind and completely ignore it because they fear the wrath of the almsivi ralok 16:34, May 21, 2011 (UTC)
No ... East OF Tamriel. As in << that way :) TimeoinSay G'DayView my workSee current projects 16:42, May 21, 2011 (UTC)

NO, east is >> that way, NEVER ^ EAT > SOUR v WATERMELONS < . . . . ralok 16:45, May 21, 2011 (UTC)

Oh shush. Just because Im geographically challenged after 2 am. Fine them. Answer me this then: Why did they still attack Morrowind anyway in 2E 572? :) (And, more to the point - why did they attack from the OPPOSITE point when they attacked Daggerfall (one of the daggerfall books mentions how if Daggerfall hadnt stopped the akavir invasion, wed all be speaking that today) TimeoinSay G'DayView my workSee current projects 16:59, May 21, 2011 (UTC)

there are several explanations actually . . . first off, planets are round, and they could have been trying to sneak up from the other side . . . or, its that they DIDNT INVADE DAGGERFELL . . . dagerfell could have just kicked their ass when they did invade, its not exactly a long walk for the armies of daggerfell to skyrim . . . and perhaps they attacked morrowind out of a moment of hubris, thinking the almsivi a farce . . . you are TRYING to see a continuity error where there is none . . . if I had a globe I could explain this perfectly! you know how big continents are right? you know that this universe isnt on a flat surface dont you . . . ugh ralok 17:13, May 21, 2011 (UTC)

No no, just checking your reasoning is sound - and it well and truly is. (Okay, thats half true - really, I just had a dumb moment :P) Oh well :) Anyways, do you see any flaws with that Camoran Usurper page? If so - let me know, and I shall fix them up tomorrow when I wake up - because I'm heading off to sleep. Night! TimeoinSay G'DayView my workSee current projects 17:20, May 21, 2011 (UTC)

Dragons Picture Edit

Thanks for fixing that "Skyrim Dragon" picture, my computer wouldn't let me add the one like that I had, so I added the crappy one - thanks though. Ѵєяɩτѧѕ

Left-Handed Elves Edit

Is it just me ... Edit

Or did we just have like 20 "A Wiki Contributors" suddenly sign up and start posting irrelevant comments all over the place, for very little reason ? :\ TimeoinSay G'DayView my workSee current projects 04:29, May 25, 2011 (UTC)

We are being trolled by someone with am IP address that isnt constant I think ralok 14:48, May 25, 2011 (UTC)
That, or a message board site :( TimeoinSay G'DayView my workSee current projects 14:50, May 25, 2011 (UTC)

This is the biggest problem with having this type of commenting system . . . thats why I dont use it on any of the wikis I frequent, nor do I support its implementation ralok 14:53, May 25, 2011 (UTC)

I actually think that it is likely just DnT. They just arent signing up with an account, or editing pages, because they know that they will get banned the second they do so :P TimeoinSay G'DayView my workSee current projects 14:57, May 25, 2011 (UTC)

Skyrim Cities Edit

The 5 major cities are the size of the imperial city and there are tons of towns and villages some probablly being the size of bruma. chorral. etc... so dont be disapointed.

Ruddy Man imageEdit

Did you get the Ruddy Man image from uesp.net?

Jimeee (talk) 11:04, November 22, 2012 (UTC)

no . . . I didnt upload the first version, I just uploaded a larger one from a personal scan ofteh art of morrowind. ralok (talk) 04:19, November 23, 2012 (UTC)
Why did the image have the exact same filename as the uesp one? "MW-Concept16.jpg"
Jimeee (talk) 17:50, November 24, 2012 (UTC)
I dont know, I didnt give it that file-name, when you upload a new version of the image it maintains the old-versions filename doesnt it? I uploaded my version because the old version was pathetically-small. ralok (talk) 17:58, November 24, 2012 (UTC)

TorEdit

I saw your edit description of the Tor page and was a little surprised: "nobody cares about what fans think, this is a place for information not for feeding fan-egos". You should be less aggressive. If the original editor of the statement could show us a source, it could be a valuable addition to "Trivia" section.

Ikabite (talk) 18:17, November 24, 2012 (UTC)

how do you source something like "this character is totally cool and popular OMG" they might as well have written that. I am not agressive, I just take teh accurate conveyance of information very very very veeeeeeeeeeeeerrrrry seriously. ralok (talk) 18:20, November 24, 2012 (UTC)
He/She could have linked a something from forum archive or other media. Rumors usually come from somewhere, leaks for example.
Ikabite (talk) 18:23, November 24, 2012 (UTC)
Its not a rumor, just a statement of fan opinion on a certain character. And fan opinion is never something that can be proven with any sort of accuracy. Unless we get a silly Tor book series like Blasto the Jellyfish there is no proving anything here. ralok (talk) 18:25, November 24, 2012 (UTC)

ReplyEdit

Each page should be consistent with our standards. Suddenly making pages look "unique" is only going to confuse things. Secondly images floating in the middle of the page look terrible and break the flow of the content - it should almost never be done unless it's for a very good reason.

Jimeee (talk) 10:24, November 30, 2012 (UTC)
