A question about item pages Edit

Hiya Timeoin. One of the projects I have set for myself is updating the leather page and doing a page for the hides/ pelts. Right now there are pages (with no content) for several of the hides/ pelts individually. I was going to make a single page to list all of the hides/ pelts and put their respective info & pictures as apposed to 13 pages. But before I do I wanted to know what the Wiki wants. If we want a single page per item with a list page I can do that. Or if we just want a single page with all the info, I can do that. Also, as the game uses 'hide' and 'pelt', I dont know if we want to split it that way or just make a redirect. (I think I count 8 pelts & 5 hides). Your thoughts? DLanyon (talk) 11:27, December 6, 2011 (UTC)

Heya Timeoin. Thanks for the quick response. Excellent sugestion on the Tanning page and the linking. I will get to working on it shortly. And I'll tie in the current Leather page to them. DLanyon (talk) 12:33, December 6, 2011 (UTC)

Patroller Edit

Well, what does a partoller do? I am guessing i get red exclamation marks in front of each edit and will need to mark them as patrolled?
That would shure make things easier.
Also i was kind of feeling bad for getting all those achivements without bringing new content to the wikia.
I would not mind terribly to patrol a bit, but when someone fakes statistics i might not have the knowledge to recognize wrong numbers.

Well, i have no objections seeing that it will give me neighter more pain nor gain. Patroller Loonix reporting for duty. --Loonix (talk) 14:06, December 6, 2011 (UTC)

Hey there! I was wondering if you could undelete Hunter. At first, I agreed that the page was bogus, but yesterday, I encountered several Skyrim enemies named as Hunter. The information on the page before it was delete contained some inaccuracies, but it could be cleaned up and made into a pretty good article. So yeah, that's my opinion. :) --— Radical D (bother \ stalk) 15:23, December 6, 2011 (UTC)

I didn't see a Hunter page, but today added the page Hunter as part of the tanning section I'm working on. If there is a hunter page, once you undelete it I'll look at the info and merge it with Hunters and add the redirect unless you want to. --DLanyon (talk) 06:51, December 7, 2011 (UTC)

Weapons from mods? Edit

Are we allowed to make pages about weapons you can make through mods? Such as the weapons here

Since they're not in the vanilla game, that makes is questionable as to put it here. I feel it'll be unimportant to the console players but PC players will definitely like to know that they can make Dragon weapons.

What is your take on this?

Books Edit

Yeah, I will. lol. When I'm done going through my inventory of books, that is very soon, I'll add author (fairly obvious sometimes), price, weight, etc. Btw, where do people find the full text of books? On the UESP? Or do they type it themselves? Justinius1 (talk) 03:12, December 7, 2011 (UTC)

I never really believed that they'd type it themselves... so I'm guessing that many are probably full of typos. Anyway, should the text from books be in italics? Thanks. Justinius1 (talk) 03:26, December 7, 2011 (UTC)

Haha, it was a small error as I don't have the game infront of me and I needed quick directions to Bthalft - the copy/paste must have included the url by accident. Oops, but man - you saw that super quick because I immedietly fixed it as soon as I saw it! Jimeee (talk) 14:22, December 7, 2011 (UTC)

Navigation 2 Edit

Just wanted to check if the navigation script (from here) is working for you and if the problem you had before is resolved. If you're still having problems, let me know and I'll try to figure out what's going on. Cheers :) --Anon(Talk) 18:40, December 7, 2011 (UTC)

You Are Fast! Edit

Wow, you are on the ball today! I went back to the Forsworn Missive to fix typo and add links, but you fixed the links before I had a chance. Neguy71inok (talk) 23:19, December 7, 2011 (UTC)

No problem, I don't mind people fixing my errors, helps me learn, I usually do a double proof read once in editor and once in preview but um.. nature demanded attention this time. Question; is there a gallery I can view Skyrim images already loaded, I play on PS3 so I can't upload quality images and on some pages I see the info box missing an image and just itch to fix it. Page needing deleted help Edit

Saw you were still active, so thought I would drop a line to you about the following pages. The No One Escapes Chidna Mine needs to be deleted (from what I can tell there is nothing to save from it) compared to No One Escapes Cidhna Mine which has greater detail, and generally better written not to mention the misspelled name on the first one. Neguy71inok (talk) 06:34, December 8, 2011 (UTC)

Hello there, I made a new page Letter From The Steward as it didn't show when creating a link on the Books page, then after publishing and realizing I wasn't logged in, went back to check the page and discovered Letter from the Steward page stub. Notice the cap usage, I keep forgeting the search when making a link is cap specific. My apologies for the mess up. Thank you for the help. Neguy71inok (talk) 20:12, December 9, 2011 (UTC)

Wedding Ring/BondEdit

Yeah, I can go ahead and make the page; it'll give me a chance to familiarize myself with templates and such (if any exist, otherwise, I can go from scratch). I'm playing on an XBox because my computer's weak, though, so I won't be able to grab an image. Tyrasis (talk) 10:32, December 8, 2011 (UTC)

Like some sheltered fool, I married the first woman I stumbled across, heh. Also, the page had been made, so I just replaced wedding ring with a redirect. Tyrasis (talk) 10:38, December 8, 2011 (UTC)

Glitches in article walkthroughs. Edit

I am seeing a lot of glitches being added to articles as a means to complete quests and this is bothering me. I don't want to see a glitch being used to do something in this manner. See Alduin's Bane with the recently added section about how to defeat Alduin as an example.

My question is: am I allowed to remove such glitches from the walkthrough sections of articles? GrandMoffVixen (talk) 03:25, December 9, 2011 (UTC)

A Quest for Knowledge Part 2: The puppet of Sithis? Edit

Hey Timeoin it's Luke again, I joined and am now "EnwaFetcher" haha so I'll sign with my screen name now. I've done some further reading and taken the quest for knowledge into my own hands, trying to figure out where Sithis fits into the whole realm of Gods in the Elder Scrolls games. But I want to make sure I have my facts about the beliefs and legends straight. Reading the page "Sithis (Book)" under the paragraphs within "Content" it comes to my attention there is perhaps an interest spin on the idea of the Adera. First I need to know if I have a rough understanding of Sithis though. Sithis is basically not so much necessarily a being but something of a void and before him was nothing "stasis" (and or is he the same nothingness as well?) . Then to my understanding Sithis took the nothing and created the opportunity of endless possibilities (like ideas, with this also having the possibility never to materialize) letting them drift into the nothing and fade away gradually becoming nothing. Continuing in this fashion until one of these possibilities/ ideas "became jealous and did not want to die" than manifested itself becoming Anui-El (Akatosh) and "made friends" being originally other ideas/possibilities that manifested becoming as some mortals would call them "The Eight Divine". Thus disrupting the cycle and the natural order of things (in a sense defying Sithis) creating the first idea of life yet even more than that seeing as how they were "Immortals" I assume making the first creation of Life one without in fact death. Then the Adera basically took hold of every possibility (maybe even more so taking away the possibility of death) for there on wills, creating and generating "everlasting realms of imperfection". The Adrea created what the people of nirn know as the universe, again defying the natural order and Sithis. So Sithis created Lorkhan to "destroy the universe", however it seems that rather than destroy in the sense we might think of it, it however rather means setting back the natural order of things to the cycle (destroying immortality kind of). So Lorkhan deceived the Eight into thinking himself one of them; afterwards he spread the ideas of mortality and thus created Nirn in the process.

Then this is where I tried to piece the rest of the puzzle together in the most logical sense I could based off the previous knowledge I had. Once the threat of mortality was created; reestablishing the natural order the Adrea probably caught wind of his "treachery" and tore out his heart casting him to earth however yet he was still successful in his mission of re-setting the balance closer to what the cycle once was... And depending of what you believe the Adera became part of Nirn as well basically meaning they lost immortality as well ?... EnwaFetcher (talk) 05:09, December 9, 2011 (UTC)

Category Box at page bottom Edit

Hiya Tmeoin. I was wondering if you have any word about the category box at the the bottom of pages being fixed. Right now adding categories is broken using the add category button. Thanks, DLanyon (talk) 07:30, December 9, 2011 (UTC)

At the bottom of the page is an "Add Category" button. When I click on that button it allows you to type in a category (and says "Press enter when done"). When I do that, it does not pull up the suggestion categories as I type, nor does it do anything when I press enter. Clicking 'save' will save it though. I can still add a category that way and when I am in edit mode on a page. But for a quick category edit its a bit of a nuisance. I hope that explains it more clearly. Thanks, --DLanyon (talk) 07:58, December 9, 2011 (UTC)
I popped on irc. So when you visit a page and scroll to the bottom where the categories are, you don't have an option to "add category"? Odd. It worked when I first started editing pages here then stopped a few days later. --DLanyon (talk) 08:37, December 9, 2011 (UTC)

An question about character categoriesEdit

Just need to clear something up, I asked Kacj321 but I have recieved no reply.

In the Characters template Infobox SkyrimNPC I hard coded in the categories "Skyrim" and "Characters" because these categories were being added in character pages anyway. However this edit was reverted by Kacj321, so my question is what is this wikis stand on the "Skyrim" and "Characters" categories and what should they be used for?

I was under the impression any pages related to Skyrim should have a "Skyrim" category - makes sense, right? And a "Characters" category would naturally eocompasses all characters in any elder scrolls games so i'm confused and don't what to update anything until I understand what the rule is.

Jimeee (talk) 09:17, December 9, 2011 (UTC)

Exactly, I thought is was a no brainer to include these categories so that is what I did. I only noticed yesterday that it was removed about a week ago - as I've been working on Locations all this week. I'll add them back in and let you know if there is any problems. Thanks

The weapons template now looks terrible!?Edit

It seems someone has changed the template I made to bright blue!? Seriously, it looks horrendous!

When I created the template I made sure it fitted in the the look and theme of this wiki - that bright blue just looks very out of place. A touch of colour is fine but this is too much. The colour change seem totally arbitrary

I don't want to start some color war, but I think a black backbround is the way to go.

Jimeee (talk) 15:15, December 9, 2011 (UTC)

We use the same colours for all the Skyrim Templates, the Black justed look horrible. Kacj321|Zomboid Wikia|Elder Scrolls Wikia 15:25, December 9, 2011 (UTC)

Ok, i'll ask him but just look at this page [[]][[]] and tell me that's supposed to fit in with the theme of this site!

Jimeee (talk) 15:27, December 9, 2011 (UTC)

I don't think thats the colours fault, I think its the temple, personally I find the template horrable looking. :/ Kacj321|Zomboid Wikia|Elder Scrolls Wikia 15:33, December 9, 2011 (UTC)

I find temples like this one [[]][[]] more pleasing to look at, and it suits it purpose. Kacj321|Zomboid Wikia|Elder Scrolls Wikia 15:38, December 9, 2011 (UTC)

I didn't blame the colour - it's how it was used on the entire infobox that made it look ugly. The colour itself is fine.
As for that test template - sure, it looks like all the other templates. I just wanted the pages on this wiki to look better than boring 1px border tables, that so many other sites are doing right now. Jimeee (talk) 16:15, December 9, 2011 (UTC)
I'm saying it to bold, big the background makes any weapon page look bad. :/ Kacj321|Zomboid Wikia|Elder Scrolls Wikia 16:17, December 9, 2011 (UTC)

Image categoriesEdit

As you may have noticed, I've undertaken the vast project of improving the categorization of images on this wiki. Oh my previous wikis, image categorization has been a pet peeve and OCD-like obsession of mine. I'm sure you won't mind, but I figured I'd at least talk to you about it, before I went head deep into it. You can check out the progress here: Category:Skyrim: Images. After fixing (hopefully) all Skyrim images on the wiki, I'll move into Oblivion and then Morrowind. I can set up the categories in advanced, to clue others into what I'm doing, in case they want to help. But, like I said, I wanted to run it past you first :) --— Radical D (bother \ stalk) 18:27, December 9, 2011 (UTC)

I was wondering about that myself and posted a list of questions to Timeoin, but I think I posted them on an archived page. I was wondering if it's something the Veetor Bot could do. I was starting to work on images I uploaded by working through my contributions page, but then I was worried someone might think I was badge hunting so I stopped to offer the bot suggestion. If that won't work, let me know if you want help, otherwise I'll keep on keeping on with other edits. ~ Trippet (Talk) 01:28, December 10, 2011 (UTC)
I shall reply here instead (Also, Apologies Trippet for archiving your question. Unfortunately, I get a lot of questions on here, and it becomes too wall-of-text unless I archive frequently. With regards to images though, I do not think you would have to worry about "badge-hunting", as the only "badge" in there is the one for adding categories to pages (across the whole wiki). That said, though, adding those categories is something that improves the quality of the wiki (adding meaningful categories like that does improve the wiki), so it is not "badge-hunting". Badgehunting is going through and adding a heap of minor changes that have no benefit to the wiki across a bunch of pages. (Example: This person). Also, I am about to go and start adding categories to the Morrowind and Oblivion Characters pages themselves (something we did not have originally). Help there would also be appreciated. Happy to offer assistance. :) I archived my own post . . . it's been a long week. Really, I posted on an archived page, I think. I'm not sure if I've spent more time on the Wiki or in Skyrim. ;) ~ Trippet (Talk) 01:40, December 10, 2011 (UTC)
I looked at that category and the contents. How about Skyrim: Enchantment Modifiers? ~ Trippet (Talk) 01:54, December 10, 2011 (UTC)
