- For the dragon priest, see Volsung.
Volsung (Dragon Language: , "Horror") is a dragon priest mask found in The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim.
Acquisition
This mask can be acquired by defeating Volsung, one of the eight dragon priests in Skyrim. Volsung can be found in the Nordic Ruin of Volskygge.
Enchantment
Wearing this mask grants the following skill bonuses:
- Fortify Barter: 20 points
- Fortify Carry Weight: 20 points
- Waterbreathing: 20 points
Usefulness
It can act as a substitute for the Argonian's racial ability, but is also generally useful for trading items, and can provide an extra benefit for players who wish to hunt for loot. It should be noted that while Volsung is more versatile, the Masque of Clavicus Vile provides a greater benefit specifically for trading, as it raises the Speech skill in addition to providing better prices.
Smithing
It can be upgraded with a corundum ingot at a workbench, and also benefits from the Daedric Smithing perk, which doubles the improvement.
Trivia
- It is extremely useful during "The Path of Knowledge" allowing one to dive underwater to search for hidden items and submerge indefinitely.
