The War of Righteousness occurred as a rebellion to the theocratic rule of the Alessian Order.[1] It occured when the priesthood of the Alessian order became too widespread to support itself, resulting in infighting within the order.[2] During this war, which occurred in 1E 2321, an Alessian monastic complex at Lake Canulus was razed.[3] Among the few documents to survive was a record of an attack on Malada in 1E 393. In the Iliac Bay, over half the population was wiped out.[4] Ten years from the start of the war, the Alessian Order had completely undone itself,[2] throwing Tamriel into chaos until the rise of the Reman Dynasty.
