Water Walking is an Alteration spell that allows the target to walk on water for the duration of the spell. Only one merchant sells this spell, Trayvond the Redguard, at the Cheydinhal Mages Guild.

Alchemy[edit | edit source]

Grapes offer the Water Walking effect when consumed.

Unless the ingredient has Water Walking as its first effect, the ingredient must be combined with related ingredients via Alchemy to make a potion with the Water Walking effect.

Enchantment[edit | edit source]

Enchanting an item with Water Walking at the Arcane University costs 2,000 Gold — regardless of the soul gem used — and lasts for an unlimited duration.

Enchanting a ring, hood, or cloth shoes with Water Walking is an effective way to avoid swimming or the need for Water breathing spells. Using even a Petty Soul Gem allows for unlimited duration underwater and lightweight items such as rings and clothing are easily to carry around and switched to without becoming encumbered.

Trivia[edit | edit source]

  • It is possible to swim underwater even while having this effect activated, by jumping and facing downwards as the player hits the water, holding forward, and breaking past the surface. If a torch is equipped whilst doing this, it can be used under water.
  • Water Walking allows casters to traverse the lava-rivers of Oblivion planes. Damage is still accumulated while walking on the lava, but it helps with reaching the main citadel faster.
