For other uses, see Werebear.

Werebears are creatures in The Elder Scrolls V: Dragonborn. They are a variant of Lycanthrope, much like Werewolves except with a different appearance in whole.

Background

According to On Lycanthropy, Skyrim is said to be teeming with Werebears and they are the reason some people use Canis Root. [1] Interestingly, Werebears are somehow only found on the island of Solstheim and in random locations throughout it; whether or not there is a reason for them being located solely on the island is currently unknown though, in the past, the Daedric Prince Hircine used the island for hunts using lycanthropes.

Interactions

A pack of three werebears can be found at Snowclad Ruins where they can be seen in human form wearing ragged trousers, before transforming and attacking.

In addition, packs of three can be randomly encountered in the wilds of Solstheim. Transformed werebears may return to their human form after some time.

Combat

They seem to perform in the same manner as werewolves as their attacks are identical. They attack with their claws and teeth, but also possess a lunge attack which knocks the target off their feet.

Quests
