Werebears are creatures in The Elder Scrolls V: Dragonborn. They are a variant of Lycanthrope, much like Werewolves except with a different appearance in whole.
Lore
According to the novel, On Lycanthropy, Skyrim is said to be teeming with Werebears and they are the reason some people use Canis Root. However, the Dragonborn will not encounter a single one in Skyrim, only wild werewolves which were added by Dawnguard. Werebears are only found on the island of Solstheim and in random locations throughout it, whether or not there is a reason for them being located solely on the island is currently unknown though in the past, the Daedric Lord Hircine used the island to begin a hunt using lycanthropes.

They seem to perform in the same manner as werewolves as their attacks are identical, also they behave the same way as the wild werewolves added by the Dawnguard add-on as they can be seen in human form before attacking. Often they travel in packs of three.

- Werebears have white grand souls.
- M'aiq the Liar may comment on these creatures: "Werebears? Where? Bears? Men that are bears?"
- Amusingly, werebears can on occasion carry honey. This of course alludes to the notion portrayed in popular culture that bears enjoy honey.
- They are functionally identical to werewolves, sharing the same animations and audio.
- When encountered at Snowclad Ruins, they will appear as men wearing ragged trousers and are unarmed. They will transform into werebears upon being approached.
- The conjure werebear power can be gained during the Cleansing the Stones quest after cleansing the Beast Stone.
- After some time, transformed werebears may return to their human form.

Bugs
- PC 360 They will become trapped in place, but still attempt to run and attack.
- 360 If the Dragonborn waits near a werebear corpse it may come back to life albeit resuming its human.
