The Wraithguard is a unique armor item in The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind. It is one of the profane tools of Kagrenac. It is an immensely powerful gauntlet that is obtained from Vivec (the others being; Keening, a dagger; and Sunder, a hammer). It is classified as Heavy Armor.

Background

According to historical texts, the use of Wraithguard and the other tools in a specific, and mostly unknown, ritual allows one to connect themselves to the Heart of Lorkan and gain godly powers (as was done by the Tribunal and Dagoth Ur). It is heavily suggested that this played an important role in the Disappearance of the Dwarves.

Acquisition

It is obtained either as a gift, or can be looted from Vivec. If it is forcefully taken, it will need to be activated by Yagrum Bagarn, who will need Kagrenac's notes. Upon equiping this 'jury-rigged' version, it will backfire, inflicting between 201 to 225 damage to the player.

Usefulness

This gauntlet is needed to wield both Keening and Sunder. Without the Wraithguard, there is nothing to shield the user from their unnatural power, and they will cause a very quick death. Even without the use of the other profane artifacts, the gauntlet is an impressive piece of equipment, offering a high armor bonus and a variety of enchantments.
